The Environment and Forestry Human Resources Training Center (EF HR Training Center) at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) has various plans and targets in place that aim to meet the training needs of state civil servants (ASN) and non-ASN on a wider scale. For this reason, the EF HR Training Center is developing a series of massive open online courses (MOOC), which is viewed as an effective solution for the organization of long-distance training for ASN at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, which currently number almost 16,000 people.

In line with this plan, the EF HR Training Center conducted an assessment study that specifically addressed MOOC development in March 2024. A series of activities were carried out during the assessment, including workshops, interviews and discussions with stakeholders. The study was carried out by Common Sense, a consulting agency that has more than 20 years of experience in the development of digital learning capacity and the creation of learning content.

The results of the study were presented online to the Head of the EF HR Training Center and her staff on 7 June 2024. During this presentation, Common Sense announced the results of the assessment study, which encompassed the readiness of human resources, expectations from Pudiklat management and stakeholders, and the available technological capacity. Discussions were also held during the event in order to obtain a more comprehensive picture of the study results.

As a follow-up, a training session for trainers will be held for Widyaiswara (lecturers) and the eLearning Team at the EF HR Training Center and the Environment and Forestry Training Center (BP LHK). In addition, a number of discussions will also be held in order to develop a roadmap for the implementation of open online training (MOOC) at the Environment and Forestry HR Training Center.

Following up on a meeting that addressed the collaborative agreement regarding governance and the preparation of activity plans for the To Lindu Customary Law Community in Central Sulawesi, the Central Sulawesi Customary Area Registration Agency (BRWA), supported by FORCLIME, held a session to disseminate assistance plans that will be implemented by the Customary Law Community (MHA) To Lindu on 27 May 2024 in the BRWA Meeting Room in Palu City, Central Sulawesi. This meeting was attended by the Forest Area and Environmental Management Agency (BPKHTL) for the Palu region, the Lore Lindu National Park, the Center for Social Forestry and Environmental Partnerships (BPSKL) in the Sulawesi region, the Central Sulawesi Provincial Forestry Service, the Central Sulawesi Provincial Environmental Service, Sigi Regency Environmental Service, the Forest Management Unit (KPH) of Kulawi and the KARSA Institute. The meeting, which was opened by the Head of the BRWA Central Sulawesi Office, Joisman Tanduru, aimed to inform the parties present about a series of activities that BRWA Central Sulawesi, working in conjunction with FORCLIME, will carry out in order to provide assistance to the MHA To Lindu. In addition, the meeting also aimed to gather input from parties regarding the implementation of the MHA To Lindu management assistance activity plan as a part of efforts to ensure improved community welfare based on sustainable forest management. Mr. Ismet Khaeruddin, in his role as Coordinator for GIZ Central Sulawesi Province, stated that intensive coordination and communication between the parties was an important factor in terms of the hoped-for success of the programme plans, as will be implemented by the To Lindu Customary Law Community.

The follow-ups to this meeting break down as follows:

1. Better communication with the BPKHTL in the Palu region regarding the plan for the preparation of instructions for the marking of the boundaries of the Katuwua To Lindu Customary Reserve Forest.
2. Implementation of inventory activities for sustainable use of the Katuwua To Lindu Customary Reserve Forest.
3. Discussion that will synchronize efforts under the Environmental Fund Management Agency (BPDLH) programme, as implemented within the MHA To Lindu area.
4. Collaboration between the Central Sulawesi Province Environmental Service, the Sigi Regency Environmental Service and related parties to prepare a management plan for the Katuwua To Lindu Customary Reserve Forest that has been adapted to the area's function.
5. Strengthening of the institutional capacity of MHA To Lindu through the involvement of relevant parties.
6. Creation of information boards within the Katuwua To Lindu Customary Forest area.

“Data and statistics have an important role to play, effective management therefore is very important as a basis for making the right decisions," stated Dr. Edi S.H. Susetyo during the opening session.

In a bid to improve the quality of environmental and forestry statistics and ultimately improve public policy, the Data and Information Center of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), supported by FORCLIME, held a workshop on 21 May 2024 at the Manggala Wanabakti Building in Jakarta. The aim of the workshop was to discuss the One Data Indonesia concept, as well as various design strategies that could be used to improve the overall quality and accessibility of statistical environmental data. In addition, the workshop also discussed possible collaborations between institutions, information technologies and the benefits of using consistent and reliable data during the development of sustainable public policies. The event was opened by the acting Head of the KLHK Data and Information Center, Dr. Edi Sulistyo Heri Susetyo, and was attended by representatives from Bappenas and the Central Level SDI Secretariat of the Ministry, as well as by the Director of Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry Statistics at the Central Statistics Agency and representatives drawn from all units at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and FORCLIME.

This activity was organized in order to support the government's One Data Indonesia (SDI) policy, which is a government data management initiative that aims to produce data that is accurate, up-to-date, integrated and accountable, as stated under Presidential Regulation Number 39 of 2019 on One Data Indonesia. The SDI policy is expected to promote ease of access and data sharing between central agencies and regional agencies. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry established the One Data Forum for the Ministry of Environment and Forestry at the end of 2022. The aim of establishing this forum is the creation of data that is accurate, up to date, integrated, accountable, sustainable, easy to access and shared and that can be managed carefully, which requires support through integrated planning, implementation, evaluation and control over One Data organizers operating through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

“The KLHK One Data Collaboration Forum is extremely valuable. Our discussion highlighted the need for accurate and accessible environmental data. Reliable spatial data across various sectors is very important in terms of holistic environmental management," explained Yan Abi Rahmanu from the Directorate of Forest Resources Inventory and Monitoring, Directorate General of Forestry Planning and Environmental Management, KLHK.

In the wake of this workshop, the KLHK One Data Collaboration Forum will now work to provide guidance and training on Electronic-Based Government Systems (SPBE) to representatives from all KLHK Echelon I units. This guidance and training will support the implementation of SDI through the provision of information and communications technology support and shared communication, as well as through application development and the construction of necessary Information Technology infrastructure.
