Asia-Pacific Forestry Week (APFW) 2016

The Asia-Pacific Forestry Week (APFW) 2016 was held in Clark Freeport, Pampanga, Philippines from 22 – 26 February 2016.
The theme, “Growing Our Future!”, was intended to encourage participants to chart new pathways that guide the development of forestry into the future (FAO, 2016).
Streams of the event:
1. Pathways to prosperity: Future trade and markets
2. Tackling climate change: Challenges and opportunities
3. Serving society: Forestry and people
4. New institutions, new governance
5. Our green future: Green investment and growing our natural assets
During the occasion, GIZ organized a side event entitled ‘Forest landscape restoration: Challenges and opportunities for ecological resilience, economic development and enhanced livelihoods in Asia and the Pacific’.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian South Sumatra Forestry Office gave a presentation entitled “Kepayang Village Forest, South Sumatra” – Rehabilitation of Burnt Areas and Peatland Landscape Management.
