2019 09 27 study tour to Malabar Coffee

Aiming to support the entrepreneurship development of the Forest Management Unit (KPH) and the implementation of the Social Forestry Programme, FORCLIME in collaboration with the Forest Services of North and West Kalimantan Provinces carried out a study tour to the Malabar Mountain Coffee plantation in Pangalengan (West Java) on 29 September - 4 October 2019. The purpose of the visit is to increase the capacity of partners in the two provinces in coffee framing and coffee business development. 30 people representing the Forest Services of North and West Kalimantan Provinces (including KPH), the Center of Environmental and Forestry Education and Training of Samarinda (BDLHK Samarinda), FORCLIME, and forest farmer groups from the two provinces, participated in the field trip.

During the study tour, participants gained knowledge about: Coffee farming techniques, conservation and sustainable harvesting, community empowerment in coffee farming, post-harvest processing, Product and market development.

The session was concluded with an evaluation and the participants prepared a follow-up plan to apply the new knowledge at their respective working areas.
