Minister of Forestry officially launches FORCLIME online photo contest

 The Indonesian Minister of Forestry, H.E. Mr. Zulkifli Hasan, has officially launched FORCLIME’s Online Photo Contest. The event is collaboratively conducted by the Ministry of Forestry and FORCLIME as part of the International Year of Forests 2011 celebrations in Indonesia. The contest is to help raise public awareness about the importance of Indonesia's forests in the context of the global debate on climate change.


The online photo contest will run from 1 August to 31 October 2011. Photographers are encouraged to enter their visual perception of the forests of Indonesia in the categories ‘People and Forests and ‘A day in the Forest‘.

There will be a total of 12 prizes attractive cash prizes. For details, registration and submission of photographs please go to our contest website www.forclime-photocontest.com

The GIZ Forests and Climate Change Programme (FORCLIME) together with the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry is supporting the International Year of Forests through an online photo contest. The contest is to help raise public awareness about the importance of Indonesia's forests in the context of the global debate on climate change.

GIS training for civil servants in Malinau

GIZ FORCLIME and WWF jointly organized and conducted a GIS basics training for 28 civil servants of the Government of Malinau district from 23rd to 27th May 2011. The training was hosted by the district development planning agency (Bappeda), with participants coming from several Government agencies such as mining, plantations, environment as well as forestry.

The training was officially opened by the Malinau Government’s Secretary Mr. Udau Robinson. The participants were introduced to GIS basics like creating vector data from raster data, adding and editing attribute data, creating first queries as well as conducting basic GPS surveys. After passing a final test the participants received a certificate for successfully completing the training course. The participants expressed their hope to receive advanced trainings soon.
