2024 11 06 Koordinasi Parapihak implementasi GCF jum

After receiving approval during the GCF Board Meeting that was held at the end of October, the West Kalimantan Provincial Environment and Forestry Service (Dinas LHK Kalbar) immediately held a coordination meeting in Pontianak on 6 November 2024. The purpose of the meeting was to convey news to the stakeholders concerned that the climate funding proposal from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for West Kalimantan Province had been approved and is currently being prepared for implementation. The stakeholders invited to the coordination meeting comprised representatives of provincial government agencies, technical implementing units of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in West Kalimantan, the Fiscal Policy Agency as the Indonesian National Designated Authority (NDA) for the GCF, the KPH Forum, the Social Forestry Working Group, the REDD+ Working Group and various CSOs operating within West Kalimantan Province.

The meeting got underway with the presentation of a report by the Head of the Environment and Forestry Service, Mr. Ir. H. Adi Yani, MH., and was opened by the Acting Governor of West Kalimantan, Mr. Dr. H. Harisson, M.Kes. This was followed by a speech from Mr. Harrison, as well as directives on the importance of solidarity during project implementation and the joint monitoring of achievements as indicators of project success.

A discussion followed and was moderated by Mrs. Yenny, S.Hut., MT. from the West Kalimantan LHK Service. This discussion began with a presentation on the Provincial Government targets of several Community Empowerment Schemes that was given by the Head of the Community Rehabilitation and Empowerment Division, West Kalimantan LHK Service, Setiyo Haryani, S.Hut. M.Env. The discussion then continued with a presentation of the various activity components that are featured under the proposal and the funding plan that has been allocated to support community development and empowerment, as well as the involvement of stakeholders by GIZ representative, Jumtani, a focal point of GCF West Kalimantan.

During the discussion, various participants asked questions related to funding distribution mechanisms, the involvement of parties as regards the accessing of funding, as well as the allocation of funding in order to manage high conservation values (HCV) and Proklim.

Prior to the conclusion of the meeting, Mrs. Yenny, in her role of moderator, explained that inputs and responses from the various parties could be submitted directly to the Environment and Forestry Service of West Kalimantan Province and also provided a phone number that can be contacted.

In the wake of this meeting, further coordination efforts will be carried out in order to prepare for full implementation, which is planned to commence in 2025.
