2021 03 03 Coordination meeting Forum Komunikasi CBLL 1

The Coordination and Communication Forum of Lore Lindu Biosphere Reserve, supported by FORCLIME, conducted a coordination meeting on 3 March 2021 in Palu, Central Sulawesi. The meeting discussed implemented activities and follow up plans, particularly related to promoting sustainable products including the environmental services from the biosphere reserve. The meeting, which opened by the Head of BAPPEDA (local development planning agency) as the Chairman of the Coordination and Communication Forum, attended by 25 participants representing provincial government officials and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) members.

The Head of BAPPEDA, Mr. Faizal Mang, said on the meeting that a better quality and promotion will improve marketing and price of products and services, which then will lead to increase income and reduce poverty. Branding biosphere product as sustainable product will be contributed to that. Furthermore, he said the Coordination and Communication Forum, supported by GIZ, will facilitate to improve quality and promotion of products from the biosphere reserve.

As the follow up from the meeting, the Forum will develop a database of products and services that already put the biosphere logo on their products to avoid misuse of the logo that currently happened. In the meantime, SMEs that intend to put the Biosphere logo have to register. In addition, the Forum will enlist the Biosphere logo to the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights for property rights purposes. Furthermore, the meeting also agreed to review the current management plan and will develop 2025 Lore Lindu Biosphere Reserve roadmap.
