2023 10 18 FORCLIME continues its internship programme in 2023 for students from Tanah Papua Rizal

FORCLIME inaugurated its internship programme for students in Tanah Papua back in 2019, which initially involved 14 students from the University of Papua (UNIPA) and the University of Cenderawasih (UNCEN). FORCLIME subsequently extended this programme through 2020, 2021 and 2022. As of 2022, a total of 40 students had participated in the programme.

This year, FORCLIME organized an internship programme for seven students from four universities located in Tanah Papua, specifically the University of Papua, Cenderawasih University, the University of Ottow Geissler Papua and Musamus University.

As in previous years, all interns first participated in an introductory workshop which was aimed at improving their knowledge and skills, specifically in relation to the organization of programmes that are implemented by GIZ, including FORCLIME and its various activities, priority issues that relate to forestry development and various other issues that encompass SDGs and gender mainstreaming. The introduction workshop was conducted in hybrid form and was held over five-hour days from 12 – 18 October 2023. In the wake of the completion of this workshop, the interns will be integrated into ongoing project activities and will be assigned specific tasks that include field activities that relate to forest inventories, socio-economic surveys and various extension activities. Through these activities the interns will hopefully gain practical experience working within the forestry sector. As a final assignment, interns will present their internship results as part of their work reports.
