2023 02 02 Coordination with BBKSDA Papua programmes in supported villages tr 1

In order to continue with the joint activities that are supporting farmers groups in the villages of Dosay and Tablasupa, FORCLIME recently coordinated with the Papua Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA) to plan joint programmes for 2023 and for these two villages in particular. The meeting was held on Thursday, 2 February 2023 at the BBKSDA Papua Office and was led by Mr. Abdul Aziz Bakry, S.Pi., M.Si, the Head of the Sub-Division Administration of BBKSDA Papua.

The meeting began with an evaluation of the various joint activities that were undertaken in 2022. Among the BBKSDA Papua activities that were supported by FORCLIME were the preparation of Community Empowerment Plan documents in the Cycloops Nature Reserve and Youtefa Bay Nature Tourism Park, the implementation of workshops on the Utilization of Wild Plants and Animals, as well as on Conservation Area Protection and Security, and also various community empowerment activities that were undertaken in the villages of Dosay and Tablasupa.

In 2023, empowerment activities in the two villages will involve Ottow Geissler University Papua. These empowerment activities will also refer to the Cycloops Nature Reserve Community Empowerment Plan.

"FORCLIME support in 2022 went very well. The impact of the various activities, especially those that related to capacity building and the implementation of activities at the site level, has been a great help to BBKSDA Papua. Through the knowledge of Ottow Geissler University Papua, community empowerment will undoubtedly be further strengthened", Mr. Abdul Aziz Bakry stated.
