Cover English summary Seka Sengketa

On the 3rd of December 2020, FORCLIME organized the soft launching of the English summary of the Seka Sengketa book at the Manggala Wanabakti in Jakarta. Seka Sengketa is a book which documents experience and learning of multi-party mediation in efforts to manage and resolve agrarian conflicts in Indonesia. The book is not about conflict resolution tips, nor success stories, but rather about lessons learned from the conflict resolution process. As the book was written in Bahasa Indonesia, thus a summary in English was needed. FORCLIME and the Conflict Resolution Unit of the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) decided on a process to distribute the lessons learned from the Seka Sengketa to the international audience, with a title: “SUPPORTING CONFLICT SENSITIVE DEVELOPMENT. Insights from Mediation Practitioners in Indonesia”.

During the opening ceremony, Dr Apik Karyana, the Secretary of Directorate General of Social Forestry and Sustainable Environment Partnership (PSKL) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, representing the Director General of PSKL said “One of the programmes at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Social Forestry, aims to provide more access to local communities with the intention of managing tenurial conflicts”. Moreover, he said, “At the ministry, currently, tenurial conflict is handled at the Echelon 2, Directorate for Conflict Management on Tenurial and Customary Forest“.
