2020 05 19 Virtual Meeting with KPH Malinau small

With the purpose of accelerating the proposal development for the forestry partnership of the Malinau Forest Management Unit (KPH Malinau), FORCLIME coordinated a virtual meeting with KPH Malinau on 19 Mei 2020, using the MS Teams application. The meeting aimed to discuss participatory mapping preparation, including data collection and coordination. The forestry partnership proposal will involve KPH Malinau and the coffee farmer groups at Gong Solok and Punan Setarap Villages in North Malinau. “We appreciate the initiative to have discussions during the covid-19 pandemic, so that we can continue our activities for this year with FORCLIME despite the circumstances, and thank you for this facilitation”, said Syafarudin, the Head of KPH Malinau.

The Forestry Partnership is one of the Social Forestry schemes, which constitutes a forest management system in which the local community actively participate to improve their own welfare as well as protect forests which support their livelihoods. Through the Social Forestry programme, the community will be involved in forest management processes: planning, utilizing and marketing.
