Today, 7 January 2020, Forest Farmer Group in Kampung Batu Rajang, East Kalimantan, harvesting honey from the stingless bee that they grow after participated in a training conducted in October 2019. The training was done with the purpose of supporting the Social Forestry programme implementation in East Kalimantan. On the training, carried out by the Samarinda training Center (BDLHK Samarinda) and FORCLIME, participants were handed five boxes containing stingless bee colony (Trigona itama) as a stimulant for honey bee farming. Currently, they already have up to 10 boxes. Today, villagers harvested from one of the boxes, and get 0.5 L honey. The farmers are very happy and interested as they expect to gain additional income from the honey bee farming in the future.
