identifikasi training needs Kaltara

Aiming to support the capacity of Forest Management Units (KPH) personnel, the North Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Service and the Samarinda Environmental and Forestry Education and Training Center together with FORCLIME, conducted a workshop on December 6 in Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan. The objective of the workshop is to present the results of a field study at KPH Malinau related to the identification of training needs for KPH human resources in North Kalimantan for the next five years. The workshop was attended by representatives from several KPHs in North Kalimantan, the Provincial Tourism Service, the Kutai National Park and local NGOs.

In his remarks, the Head of the North Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Service emphasized that KPHs must be managed by professional staff, so that KPHs can become independent and contribute to improving community income.

The result of the workshop is a selection of topics for trainings, such as: Non-Timber Forest Products Inventory, Preparation of Forest Management Plans, Mentoring of Social Forestry Programmes and Geographic Information Systems. The Samarinda Environment and Forestry Education and Training Center will develop a training programme for 2019 based on the results of the workshop.
