The Kapuas Hulu civil society forum together with FORCLIME conducted a focus group discussion on customary land management on 13 September 2019 in Putussibau, Kapuas Hulu district, West Kalimantan. The objective of the FGD was to share knowledge and experiences in managing customary land by the traditional community. The goal of the meeting was also to develop similar perspectives in regard to roles and functions of CSOs in supporting the development in Kapuas Hulu. Representatives of the regional development agency (Bappeda), the Environmental Service, the forest management unit (KPH Kapuas Hulu), the Betung Kerihun Danau Sentarum National Park and local NGOs attended the meeting. Resource persons in the FGD were the Sungai Utik head of management of customary land, who used to be the head of the village, and the Rantau Kalis village head.

The follow-up of the meeting will be accelerating the process of defining the customary land, in addition to preparing multi-stakeholder approaches which mainstream economic sustainable development based on available local wisdom.
