2019 04 11 AWP Workshop in Kaltara ms lowres

Aiming to have synergy with its local partners in North Kalimantan, FORCLIME together with the Provincial Forestry Service conducted a discussion on FORCLIME’s working plan 2019 on 11 April in Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan. In addition, the meeting intends to inform and update on FORCLIME activities and coordinate with its key local partners. During the meeting, FORCLIME was represented by two strategic area managers, Mr Wandojo Siswanto and Mr Lutz Hofheinz (Technical Cooperation Module) and Mr Basoeki Karyaatmadja (Financial Cooperation Module).

On his opening speech, the Secretary of Forestry Service of North Kalimantan, Mr Maryanto, mentioned that the expenditure of the reforestation fund (dana bagi hasil – dana reboisasi – DBH-DR), which is distributed by the Ministry of Finance (MoF), is considered low. If the expenditure stays low this year, the MoF will cut 40% of the total funding. Disbursement of the reforestation fund is regulated by a MoF decree which can only be used for forest fire prevention. As forest fire hardly occurs in North Kalimantan, there is no justification to use the fund. During the discussion, Mr. Teddy Kusuma from the Regional Planning Agency, suggested to FORCLIME to adjust its workplan so there will be no overlapping activities and the fund from DBH DR can be optimally disbursed.
