2019 05 09 Martin Hansen visit lowres

On 9th May 2019, GIZ Country Director Indonesia, ASEAN and Timor Leste, Mr Martin Hansen, visited FORCLIME sites in North Kalimantan province including shrimp farms and ecosystem essential areas in Bulungan to see the progress of the programme’s activities implemented in the field. At the same day Mr Hansen went on a courtesy visit to meet the North Kalimantan Provincial Secretary, Dr. Suriansyah in Tanjung Selor, the capital city of North Kalimantan province. The courtesy meeting was also attended by officials from relevant provincial service agencies, in addition to FORCLIME Programme Director, Mr Georg Buchholz, who accompanied Mr Hansen.

During the courtesy meeting, Dr Suriansyah explained that currently the Provincial and Bulungan District Governments pay attention to mangrove and peatland for conservation purposes. Furthermore, he said ‘This effort will be followed by human capacity building to be prepared for facing future issues on the implementation of the sustainable development goals.” Dr Suriansyah indicated that he is very pleased with the GIZ cooperation in North Kalimantan and urged the provincial government staff to take advantage from all GIZ activities, particularly on strengthening human resource capacity.

Next to visiting North Kalimantan, Mr Hansen visited FORCLIME sites and offices in East Kalimantan.
