• Canal Criteria for Blocking

Objective of canal blocking:

Ø Restore hydrological aspect in the area à to support rehabilitation program

Ø Fire prevention à increasing water level

Ø Give direct benefit for local community à income generation (fish, etc)

From 33 canals that have been identified by using the criteria above, about 22 canals have the priority to be blocked. These include the following

• 1 canal in Tembesu Daro

• 9 canals in Kepayang River

• 12 canals in Buring River
