Since 2022, the Central Sulawesi Provincial Forestry Service has encouraged Forest Management Units (FMUs) operating within Central Sulawesi Province to develop Long-Term Forest Management Plans (RPHJP). This process began with consultations with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) that were held back in October 2022 to obtain inputs relating to the roles and functions of FMUs, as well as the latest regulations aimed at guiding RPHJP preparations.
In November 2022, the Central Sulawesi Provincial Forestry Service invited the MoEF Technical Management Unit (UPT) in Central Sulawesi to discuss the RPHJP preparation plan. During this activity, an RPHJP Revision Team was formed consisting of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Forestry Service, all FMUs and all MoEF UPTs operating in Central Sulawesi and will share data and programme plans as input and direction for the preparation of the FMU RPHJP. FORCLIME is also a member of this team. Furthermore, a meeting of the RPHJP Revision Team was held to explain the various activities that will be carried out and the availability of data that will be synchronized with the RPHJP. During December, a process of data analysis and document preparation was carried out and, by the end of 2022, the initial draft of the RPHJP for all FMUs had been made available.
The workshop and coaching clinic for the drafting of the RPHJP improvement was held on 16-17 March 2023 at the Central Sulawesi Provincial Forestry Service Office and was led by the Head of the Service, Ir. A. Rachmansyah Ismail, M.Agr., MP. FORCLIME facilitated this workshop and coaching clinic in collaboration with the Faculty of Forestry of Tadulako University and Libu Perempuan Central Sulawesi. Among the issues discussed were forest governance and gender mainstreaming, as set out within the RPHJP document. The coaching clinic will continue until mid-April and it is hoped that the RPHJP document can be finalized soon afterwards.
