Setulang book for news

The Village Government of Setulang in Malinau district, North Kalimantan, in cooperation with resource persons representing the Ecotourism Board of Setulang, the Setulang Village Forest Management board, the Deputy of Customary Leader of Oma Lung, the Province Forest Service of North Kalimantan, the Forest Management Unit of Malinau (KPH Unit X Malinau) discussed the content of a book that explains social and cultural traditions of Setulang people in regard to sustainable forest management. The focus group discussion was conducted on 31 October in Tarakan, supported by FORCLIME. The book aims to portray a clear picture about Setulang people’s ways and perspectives on forest conservation using a popular language. Hence, local experiences and knowledge can be easily understood and, moreover, can be shared with a wide range of stakeholders over generations.

The respective book, called “Tane’ Olen Setulang:  A tradition on forest conservation in Setulang village, Malinau district, North Kalimantan” will be produced in the near future.
