Germany, 4 – 11 December 2010

An expert dialogue on "Gain practical insight into the general and day to day administrative and operational tasks of a Forest Management Unit (FMU) in the office and in the field” will be carried out from 4 to 11 December 2010 in Germany. Participants to join the venue are technical staff from some district forestry services of South Sumatra (Musi Banyuasin and Musi Rawas), West Kalimantan (Kapuas Hulu), West Nusa Tenggara, East Kalimantan (Berau) and Yogyakarta Provinces. Additionally, representatives from the Ministry of Forestry office will also join the programme. The study tour to Hessen-Forst, Germany, is supported by the Forests and Climate Change (FORCLIME) Programme, in close collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry.

Participants of study tour will visit the FMU Herborn with following programmes:

Class session to gain information on:

  • Tasks and function of FMUs and their positions in the overall structure of the state forest service
  • Function, tasks and responsibilities of a FMU manager
  • management of state owned Forest Management Units
