Adaptation Futures is the biennial conference of the Global Programme of Research on Climate Change Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation (PROVIA). It is the premiere international climate change adaptation conference where people from countries around the world go to connect, learn and inspire. Adaptation Futures 2018 provides an opportunity for international networking and dialogue with more than 1000 participants from academia, government, civil society and business, all aiming to take climate adaptation forward. Adaptation Futures 2018 aims to use our setting on the African continent to attract more African and Global South delegates than ever before to the conference and forefront developing country adaptation contexts

9-18 July 2018. High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2018

The sixth session of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF 2018), convening under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The theme of HLPF 2018 will be: ‘Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies’. The sub-set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be reviewed in depth by HLPF 2018 will be: SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation), SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy), SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities), SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production), and SDG 15 (life on land). Goal 17 (Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development) is also considered each year. In addition, 48 countries are expected to present their Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs).

Convened by Governor Jerry Brown and the State of California, US, the Global Climate Action Summit will bring leaders from government, business and the global community to inspire greater global ambition to act on climate change.

Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Patricia Espinosa, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change, Michael Bloomberg, and Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra, will co-chair the Global Climate Action Summit.
